Hello all

Hello all!

Welcome to my new blog. I thought I would create a forum for exchanging interesting information with respect to politics. I invite 'rant au jours' from anyone who thinks that it will make any difference or would make them feel better.

I am also interested in 'news from the ground' which is comprised of media outlets or formats that are closer to the source(and generally farther from the White House press room, which is, in my opinion, a disgrace for anyone who defends it's worth).

In Maine, we have interesting races developing. We have Tom Allen (D), the 6 term US Rep. running against Susan Collins, who, let's not forget, spent 8 days in a 'scientific tent' with John McCain in the South Pole last year. That's almost enough to get me to vote for her, but no. She should have gone to Portland where you can see pollution haze on most summer days that drifts in from the Ohio valley industrial belt.

We also have Chellie Pingree running for Allen's Rep seat. She lost to Collins in the senate race by 2% in 2002' and she'll have to beat 4 or 5 other Dems in the primary.

Olympia Snowe has come to her senses and distanced herself from the Republicans by voicing her disdain for US policy in Iraq. In a blue state she won going away in 2006.

For anyone interested in learning more about what the wonderful country of Great Britain was doing in Kenya during the 1940's and 50's you can read "Imperial Reckoning." This book chronicles and catalogs the British gulag detention process that systematically brutalized the nation of Kenya. It outlines the ugliest elements of imperialism that closely rivaled Nazi Germanyand went on unabated under the guidance of 'great leaders' like Winston Churchill.

Lastly, for today, you can go on You Tube and look up IED/ Iraq videos and watch US army convoys under attack. As I'm sure you know, the IED's are what are killing so many troops in Iraq. The ugly refusal of US policy makers to admit the extent to which we are susceptible to IEDs is another disgraceful reality of this administration.
